Advice on base station antenna

I am currently looking on putting up a base station antenna. I know there is all kinds of thoughts on antenna types; however, I am looking for advise on a good base station antenna for UHF, VHF etc. I do a lot of DXing and I also use two meters extensively. Particularly interested in 10 meter, 17 meter, 20 meter, and 40 meter bands. I am not limited on space; however, I am somewhat limited on funds LOL. Any info or advise appreciated. Just moved from the Paradise area to the Magalia area. Thanks in advance for any info and/or suggestions. I am going to be using an older Kenwood 6 meter to 160 meter band radio. Got it at an estate sale and anxious to try it out. Russ

    Russ,
Please do not take my advice as gospel or the only way to go. I use a Diamond X-300 for dual band 2m/70cm work. I am very pleased as I have talked simplex to Tracy or nearby. I routinely talk to Roseville/Sac area on simplex, usually 10w, and the North Hills Radio Club (NHRC) repeater, normally 5w.
I am on the south end of Nimshew Ridge at about 2,100ft elevation, so that helps. That is my story & I’m sticking to it.
    Best of luck.
